Like the Phoenix bird, the city town centre rose up from the ashes after the big fire in 1888 when the whole city was burnt to the ground. The wealthy citicens dug deep in their pockets and very soon a new town was built – completely in stone as to never let history repeat itself – and the result can be seen from front row when you visit Innergården 1891.
